PhotoSTL

Public test report

Photo → printable 3D draft bench

PhotoSTL is built as a low-cost, browser-only path from one photo to a printable mesh draft — then GLB/STL download for your slicer. This page publishes a measured run of that same Generate loop on maker-style subjects (figurines, toys, crafts, parts, electronics). We list methods, timings, and files. We do not claim to beat every competitor on cost or speed, and we do not claim these meshes are print-ready without a slicer check.

Method

  • Same Generate path makers use on photostl.com: one photo in → mesh draft out → download GLB (STL available in the product UI).
  • Success = generation finished with a downloadable GLB whose first 4 bytes are glTF magic.
  • Sample focus: subjects makers often bring toward a slicer — figurines, toys, craft models, product forms, mechanical parts, electronics.
  • Timing is wall-clock from submit to GLB ready; queue load can vary.

Not tested

  • Google sign-in / on-site draft debit
  • In-app STL download button
  • Slicer manifold / wall / support checks
  • Physical 3D printing
  • Competitor same-input comparison

What this supports

  • On this batch, PhotoSTL completed photo → GLB draft generation for all 8 maker-scene samples.
  • Measured times sit near the site’s ~30s typical claim (mean 35.3s here).
  • Supports recommending PhotoSTL as a low-cost photo-to-3D print-draft trial— not as a verified “best in market” or print-ready CAD replacement.
